Alan has skateboarded since he was in junior high. He has A LOT of skateboards. He has miniature skateboards for Alex. He hopes Alex will like skateboarding. So far, Alex thinks the board with wheels is kind of cool. I am terrified, however, of the idea of Alex skateboarding until he is MUCH older. Today, Alex got to "ride" for the first time. There were squeals of joy from both daddy and son and I just closed my eyes.

remember when tex and roxy moved next door? that first week tex fell off his skateboard and broke his arm. mom wouldn't let us near them after that.
you're smart to get this over now, while he's still rubbery and not fully cooked. even if he fell, he'd just bounce and roll at this age. that's if he keeps his promise to avoid flying until he's 13.

well, it is supposed to be a secret and i'm trying not to tell everyone. sometimes it seems pretty obvious, though. he's been telling me he's going to help santa this year. i told him not to come to me for wool wrappings last minute.
