Waiting Patiently for a Fish Hat

My sister, Stacey, is a very creative sort, much more than myself. Alex is taking in her footsteps in the creative arena, which makes me very happy. She recently promised him a new hat and mittens for Christmas. There was much despair when said hat and mittens did not show up on Christmas morning. Check out her blog entry about what happened:

At the KC Royals Game

We took Alex to his first baseball game in Kansas City. I enjoyed going to games as a kid with my grandpa. Nanny would get us new bathing suits for the motel pool and grandpa would listen to the game on his transistor radio while we were in the stadium. We would watch the games, rooting for George Brett while eating hot dogs and chewing Big League Chew bubble gum! Things have changed a lot since then (hot dogs are now $7) and they have a whole kid area where Alex got totally worn out! The kids area has a carousel, a mini-golf course, a base running area (where Alex ran his legs off), batting cages, and much more!

Neighborhood Rally for the Joplin Muslim Community

Saturday evening marked three weeks since the Joplin Islamic Mosque was burned. The Joplin community rallied behind the Muslims by helping to raise over $400,000 and by showing support in a rally sponsored by Ozark Christian College and the Joplin faith-based community. While it had rained most of the day, hundreds of people came out to show their support. I am thankful that we were able to participate in the event but saddened that such an event was necessary.
