Blanket

My sister, Stacey, not only has the talent for cartoons, but also for knitting. She has made the baby several sweaters, funky little hats, devil pants, and now--a skull and crossbones blanket!! On her blog, she lets the skull and crossbones naysayers know that this is what the kid will like.

She says: "the thing about babies is that although they are, for the most part, sort of cute, this does not mean they want treacly crap strewn about them in soft pastels. babies like bold colors. babies are not exceptionally passionate about bunnies and kitties. they like hard things to bang on and throw. babies are dangerous. so i made my sister's new kid a blanket in black with a bone colored skull and crossbones in the middle." (for the complete blog, click on the Aunt Stacey blog under favorite sites).

She assures us that it is also warm enough that the kid can sleep outside during the winter as long as it is wrapped up snugly in the bones! :) By the way, the hound in the photo is none other than Guthrie, Stacey and Chris' dachshund.

old school kid

Those of you who know Alan at all know that he loves old school adidas and pumas. We can't go to a shoe store without him obsessively checking out the stock. He has already bought the kid an adidas hoodie and this weekend, he found some pumas that are not exactly old school, but pretty close. These will fit the baby when he is around 1 year old--better than the Adidas Sambas he wanted to buy that wouldn't have fit until at least 2 or 3. Next, he will talk me in to buying the Green Machine super cool trike that they have reissued from the 70s. Did I mention that the green machine is for like ages 5 and up? :)

32 weeks

I am finally posting a picture of me pregnant--this was taken this morning--32 weeks. I am feeling good, but I am having more and more difficulty bending over and doing some tasks. Our little man is now about 17 or 18 inches long. He has his head positioned in my pelvis with his butt up under my ribs. Sometimes, he will push his butt so hard up under my ribs that I can barely breath. Eight more weeks!

Box Turtle Stephanie

My sister requested that I post this photo of the three of us on Halloween circa 1977 when I was a very cool box turtle, Stacey was a bat and Shelley was a witch. I am obviously the cutest freakin' turtle ever!

Well read kid

Our little man is already a well read kid, as you can see from his full bookcase! His parents obviously are book fanatics. We have the nursery just about done, with a few exceptions. We haven't framed and matted the Leia Bell prints yet and we still need to get the changing table/dresser, but it is quickly becoming one of the nicest rooms in our house. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Sea Turtle Birthday Present

Today is my birthday and my sweet husband got me the Leia Bell print for the nursery that I have wanted so much! It was sold out on her website, but one showed up on Ebay, so it is now in my hot little hands ready to be matted and framed for the baby's room! This print is called: They truly believed they were birds.

Contractions, the preview from Aunt Stacey

Everyone wants more Aunt Stacey cartoons, so here is one she did about future contractions and my need to be just a little precise :)
