During a recent trip to Kansas City, Alex experienced his first cookie. When we returned, we started giving him biter or teething biscuits. He was mesmerized by them at first but quickly started chomping on them. He even pretends like he will give Alan a bite but then pulls it back, teasing him! It amazes me how quickly time flies and how just yesterday he was breastfeeding and today he is eating big boy food! I need it all to slow down, he is already growing up too fast!

which biter biscuits did you get? I wanted to try some because they are shaped better than the round ones I have. But I wasn't sure if zwiebeck or the biter biscuit ones would be safe...
We got two different ones and he seems to like both of them. The Gerber sBiter Biscuits and the Earth's Best Barley Biscuits are the ones that we have tried and they are both shaped like a log and seem to work well for him. When they start to get really soggy, we just take them away from him. But they are easy for him to hold, he doesn't jab them too far in his throat, and he figured out quickly that when one end is sticky to turn it around and start chewing on the other end. I checked on the age suggestions, etc. and both of these seem to be pretty safe with his abilities.
Maddi still loves to "feed us" then takes it back. She also plays this game with the dogs--which grosses us out, but we've learned not to worry too much. :-)
you know, it's funny all this interest in biscuits. alex's own mother used the tail of a dachshund to chew on when she was teething. and yes, it was still attached to the butt of a live dog.
for those of you out there interested in what kind, she was a standard red female shorthair named heidi. we found her walking down the street and she hopped in our car, so exact age and brand name are unknown.
i'm not saying everyone should teethe on dachshund tails. i'm just saying alex will have his choice of extra spicy or jerky flavor in a few weeks.
I know what you mean! Their just so precious and scrumptious I wish I could freeze time.
