Alex has been feeling a little yucky the last few days, but he is on the mend and acting more and more like his normal self. On Friday, he had been throwing up much of his milk, so I called the doctor and they wanted to see him in the office. Once we got there, they said he was dehydrated from being sick, so they wanted him in the hospital to get rehydrated. We spent Friday night and part of Saturday in the hospital where he had a horrible experience getting his first IV. Three nurses attempted multiple times to insert an IV in his little hand while mommy held on to his other hand and whispered in his ear. One of the nurses then noticed a vein popping out of his head (likely because the poor guy had been crying for a long time at this point) and thought that would be the best location to insert an IV. About 15 minutes later, Alex had a mass of gauze with an IV sticking out of it attached to his little head. 18 hours worth of saline with sugar and salt later, we got to go home to finish mending. While he is not yet 100%, he is getting his appetite back and is back to laughing at his daddy.Sunday, May 4, 2008

Poor baby;( I know that had to be a difficult experience for you and Alan.Having a baby just turns you to mush;) Glad to hear he's doing better;)
you expect me to believe that someone would poke a hole in my sweet nephew's head just to put salt and sugar in there? no way!
