Tulsa Aquarium

We tried for a few weeks to go with friends to the Tulsa Aquarium or Zoo for Alex's birthday, but with colds and house stuff, we never got around to it. Last weekend, we woke up and had a few hours free, so we just headed to the aquarium on our own. Alex loved seeing all the fish and I was enamoured with the sea anemone! By the way, I LOVE my new camera! I took all of these photos without a flash!

New Piano--Birthday Present from Stacey & Chris

Springfield Discovery Center

We had to get out of the house for a few hours on Saturday and decided to visit the Springfield Discovery Center. Alex, Alan and Juan all had a great time playing with all the toys!

Happy Birthday! Alex is 2!!!!!!

I cannot believe that my tiny little boy who seemed so fragile when he was first here is now two years old! He is turning in to such a little person and such a boy. He is already interested in "gross" stuff and he likes bugs and dirt and cars and balls and all the boy stuff out there.

Cereal Mess

Alex has been really good about feeding himself. Today, he decided to attempt to slurp down the milk left in his bowl while my back was turned.

Upside Down

I can't believe that Alex turns two in less than a week. It seems like I have blinked and he has become a little boy, not my baby anymore. Luckily, he will still let me love on him, but actually holding him is pretty much a thing of the past. He is so independent and is interested in figuring out everything and letting everyone know that he is in charge. :)

Nutella Love

Who doesn't love nutella? Alex wanted "Papa's Toast" the other day and I spread a little bit of nutella over it. It was heaven! Nutella also makes you feel a bit drunk, as Alex looks in this photo! :)

Waiting for Daddy

Why????

It has happened . . . Alex has begun the "Why Stage"! If Alan or I tell him something, he ponders what we tell him for a moment and then he asks "Why?". So far, we can explain why we have told him something and he accepts it. I am sure it is only a matter of time before he will not accept our explanations and I will be left trying to figure out better explanations. It is scary and rewarding all at the same time when you start to realize that it is only a matter of time before your child is smarter than you are.

More new phrases

Yesterday, Alex hugged me and said "I love you much, Mama!" How could I say no to a child who says such a thing to me. Then, today, he heard his daddy say that something was a piece of crap. He quickly started yelling "Piece of CRAP!" as loud as possible. Ah, the wonders of a 2 year old. We are going to have to be a lot more careful.

The hat is still going strong

Alan brought this hat back from Feria three years ago. It has withstood Alan crushing it in luggage from Spain, Alex stepping on it, and me almost losing it. Through all its trials, it has survived and is one of Alex's favorite things!
